New York in April Travel Guide

Spring is officially here and it’s time to write a travel guide on the best things to do in New York City in April.

In New York City, no matter what season it is, there is always something entertaining to do.

If you’re planning a trip to New York City in April, you’ll find a particularly appealing list of April events on this page.

Winter has finally come to an end, and everyone is eager to get back into the fresh air. Central Park and other smaller parks call, and the weather is ideal for one of the many excellent river cruises available in the area.

In this travel guide about April in New York you will find various important information and among them:

What to wear in New York in April

Make sure to bring an umbrella; you’ll be glad you did when it starts to rain on your trip.

Prepare by dressing in layers because it can be chilly, especially in the mornings and evenings, and on the observation decks, in particular.

The Discover NYC Team always recommends that you look at the weather forecast and temperatures every morning as soon as you wake up.

Never assume that the previous day’s temperature or weather conditions will hold true for your entire vacation. There are huge temperature swings from day to night and even day to day.

If you want to take advantage of the city’s walking tours, wear comfortable walking shoes with closed toes and water resistance.

You can also dress in something a little more fanciful for the nightlife.

Best Things to do in NYC in April

This is Discover NYC selection of the best 3 things to do in NYC in April. The list is obviously much longer and we recommend you to keep an eye on our BLOG to stay updated on all the things happening in NYC.

1. Macy’s Flower Show

Celebrate the arrival of spring with the best flower exhibition in the city, which is open to the public for free.

The Macy’s Herald Square Flower Show, which begins on March 27th and end on April 10th. The exhibition includes over 30,000 different species of flowers and blossoming trees. It is a stunning sight to behold.

Have a look at their Website for more info about the Macy’s Flower Show.

2. Easter Parade

It’s a one-of-a-kind experience to witness Fifth Avenue’s legendary Easter Parade and Bonnet Festival.

The event will take place on Easter Sunday (17 April 2022) from 10 AM to 4 PM.

From 49th Street, the parade proceeds along Fifth Avenue to 57th Street, where it concludes.

The greatest place to see the parade is at Saint Patrick’s Cathedral, and if you want to participate in it, all you need is a distinctive Easter bonnet that you designed yourself.

In any case, you’ll want to join the masses for a nice Easter brunch at one of the nearby eateries, which will be plentiful this year.

Viewing or participating to the parade is, of course, FREE

3. Cherry Blossoms Festival at the Brooklyn Botanical Garden

Among the best things to do in NYC in April there is, of course, the view of the Cherry Blossoms.

If you haven’t done it yet, we suggest you to read our blog article about the 5 best places to view the Cherry Blossoms in New York.

The one at the Brooklyn Botanical Garden is a favorite April event for many people to attend.

What we love most about this event is that you can check out their Website in real time as the cherry blossoms bloom. That way you know exactly what to expect.
