Visiting Niagara Falls from NYC: day trip vs 2-day trip. Which one to choose?

One of the best experiences you can have from NYC is to visit Niagara Falls by a bus tour from NYC.

Obviously the trip is not a short one, so be prepared to spend a few hours on the bus: there are about 410 miles / 660 km between Times Square and Niagara Falls and the trip takes about 7 hours.

We took Times Square as a reference point for the departure because our tours actually start a few meters from there, in a super favorable position from the touristic point of view.

Let’s go into a little more detail to let you understand what are the 2 offers that we have prepared for you if you want to visit Niagara Falls from NYC.

Niagara Falls: Day Trip from NYC

The first option is a day trip from NYC departing at 4 AM from the Times Square area and returning late in the evening.

The experience will take you all day and will give you the opportunity, once you arrive in Niagara Falls, to take the fantastic “Maid of the Mist” Ferry that takes you right under the falls.

During the trip we will stop 2 times to take a break and stretch our legs.

We will never cross the border into Canada and consequently we will not lose time at the border to check passports and other documents.

We would like to emphasize that although the Canadian side of the falls is more spectacular than the American side, the experience on the Maid of the Mist, the ferry that takes you right under the falls, is the same regardless of which side you choose to visit.

This experience is perfect for those who absolutely want to see Niagara Falls but have limited time during their NYC vacation.

Please note that the 1 day trip from NYC to visit Niagara Falls includes in the ticket price the ferry “The Maid of the Mist” to get right below the falls.

Niagara Falls & Outlet Shopping: 2-Days tour

If you choose the two-day option, your experience will be more enjoyable and relaxed for the following main reasons:

⏰ The bus leaves the Times Square area at 6:30 AM and not at 4:00am as the day trip does, so you can sleep an extra hour, which never hurts.

⛰️ During the outward journey we will break the trip in 2 stopping for a beautiful walk to the fingers lake in Upstate New York: it is definitely a beautiful experience that is worth doing.

📌 Once arrived at the falls we will not go immediately on the “Maid of the Mist” (the ferry that takes you under the falls) : this is in fact an experience that we will do the second day.

👮🏻‍♂️ In the afternoon of the first day, once arrived at the falls, we will take a nice walk on the American side, before crossing the border to go on the Canadian side.

🔦 In the evening, after staying at the hotel, we will have the opportunity to take a nice walk near the falls illuminated with coloured beams of light: it will be an unforgettable memory.

⛴️ The next morning, after having breakfast at the hotel (included in the tour price), we will cross the border to return to the U.S. and take the “Maid of the Mist”, the ferry that will take us right under the falls.

🛍️ After taking the bus back to New York, we will make two stops: the first one to have something to eat and the second one to visit an Outlet and do, if you want, some shopping of excellent brands at low prices.

🌃 The return to Times Square is scheduled for about 9:30 PM, instead of 11 PM, the arrival time of the day trip.

This experience is perfect for anyone who wants to see Niagara Falls from different vantage points and without rushing.

Please note that the 2 day trip from NYC to visit Niagara Falls includes in the ticket price: Hotel, Breakfast on the second day, “The Maid of the Mist” Ferry to get right under the Falls and a stop at an Outlet Store on the way back to NYC.
