After having presented 5 not-too-touristy places that you can not absolutely miss in Midtown Manhattan, today we tell you about a place that is always in Midtown Manhattan, which is not so well known by New Yorkers and almost absolutely unknown to most tourists.
We are talking about a beautiful artificial waterfall just a few steps from Rockefeller Center, in the middle of Manhattan.
Take a look at the picture below to understand what we are talking about.
The waterfall is located within Greenacre Park, on 51st Street, between Second and Third Avenues.
In terms of distance, The Waterfall is about a 15-minute walk from Rockefeller Center and Fifth Avenue. Although the walking distance is limited, you will realise once you get near the waterfall that we are no longer in a tourist area. This area is frequented by real New Yorkers who hang out here in front of the waterfall for their lunch break.
What we recommend is that you do the same thing: get take-out lunch from one of the many places that are located near the waterfall and sit at one of the tables in the park (it costs nothing), listening to the sound of the waterfall and relaxing a little bit.
We promise you that this experience will leave behind all the fatigue, sounds and noises of New York City.
